Accountant
Exeter, Devon
£40,000 – £45,000 per annum

Our client, a growing and well-established professional services business, is seeking an experienced Accountant to take ownership of its client accounting function on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Accountant, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of client accounting services across a varied portfolio, while developing and supporting a small team. Working closely with senior stakeholders and clients, you will combine strong technical accounting knowledge with a proactive and personable approach, helping to strengthen processes and support the continued growth of the business.

The responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the client accounting function
  • Manage reconciliations across multiple client accounts
  • Prepare management accounts and yeare-end accounts, along with various other financial reporting
  • Oversee VAT and MTD submissions
  • Manage purchase ledger and supplier payments
  • Review financial information and resolve discrepancies
  • Support and develop junior finance team members
  • Improve processes, systems, and financial controls

The candidate:

  • AAT Level 4 qualified, studying towards, or qualified by experience
  • Strong practical accounting experience within a client-focused environment
  • Strong double-entry bookkeeping knowledge/experience
  • Extensive experience using Xero and confident with Excel
  • Good knowledge of VAT, tax, reconciliations, and management accounts
  • Confident leader with excellent organisation and communication skills
