We’re delighted to be partnering with a reputable and forward-thinking firm based in Exeter, who are seeking an ambitious Accountant to join their supportive and professional team.

This is a great opportunity for someone completing their AAT Level 3/4 or early in their ACCA studies, looking to grow within a modern and supportive accountancy firm. You’ll develop broad technical skills, strengthen client communication, and gain hands-on experience with leading accounting software, building a strong foundation for your career. Full study support is available to help you progress through your qualifications while gaining practical experience.

The responsibilities:
* Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
* Complete personal and corporate tax returns in a timely and efficient manner
* Manage bookkeeping tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records
* Process payroll and ensure all statutory requirements are met
* Handle VAT returns and provide guidance on VAT-related matters
* Support senior accountants with a varied portfolio of clients across different industries
* Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to high-quality, reliable financial reporting

The candidate:
* Relevant accounting qualification or working towards one (e.g. AAT, ACCA, ACA)
* Previous experience in an accountancy practice or similar financial role
* Strong understanding of bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and tax principles
* Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
* Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
* Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team
