Payroll Finance Assistant (12 month FTC)
Exeter, Devon
£24,000 – £27,000

A rewarding opportunity has arisen with an exciting and expanding organisation who are looking to appoint an experienced and well-motivated Payroll and Finance Administrator to join them on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.

With the company investing in their staff, and encouraging personal development and professional pride, this role will suit an experienced Payroll Administrator who is competent taking responsibility for a large payroll.

Responsibilities:

Payroll

  • End to end processing of complex payroll activities on a monthly basis, ensuring all necessary tasks have been performed and processing checklists are completed in line with the relevant timetable.
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from team members and third parties in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll statutory requirements, including PAYE, P11d, P45s, FPS, EPS, making sure of timely submissions and payments and completing HMRC liaison where necessary
  • Preparation of ad hoc reports and statistics for management, including statistical information, year-end information, ONS surveys, seasonal work patterns and Gender Pay Gap reporting
  • To stay abreast of payroll developments, following policies and procedures and updating these on an annual basis.
  • To identify process improvements and assist in the continuing development and application of payroll solutions and processes.

Finance

  • Supporting sales ledger and purchase ledger processing and assist in maintaining the ledgers.
  • Supporting the month-end close process, including processing of some journal entries such as accruals and prepayments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of allocated balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Supporting with the production and development of daily / weekly sales reporting.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, centres and other team members when necessary answering any queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist and support the Management Accountant & Finance Manager with any other tasks as requested to ensure the smooth operation of the Finance function.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience of working in a similar position, ideally having run a large payroll.
  • Knowledge of HMRC payroll filing requirements and pensions compliance.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and deliver to deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
