Financial Controller

Our client, a market-leading organisation with strong ethical values, are seeking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to join them, on a full-time, permanent basis at their Head Office based in South Devon.

The company have developed into a well-renowned brand across the UK and Europe and, after experiencing considerable growth, they are seeking a proficient and adept Financial Controller who can add real value.

As the Financial Controller, you’ll oversee and manage the finance department and business finances to the highest standards and contribute to financial budgets with precision, while inspiring and leading a team toward collective success, fostering professional collaboration, and embodying our clients ethos within an inclusive environment.

The responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily financial operations, ensuring accurate recording and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage stock, supplier payments, expenses, payroll, pensions, and benefit schemes within company policies.
  • Handle credit control, fostering customer relationships to minimize bad debt risk.
  • Finalise monthly management accounting, meticulously checking for discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with CFO to analyse management accounts and produce board packs.
  • Implement changes from monthly board meetings.
  • Track monthly costs against budgets, identifying trends and variances.
  • Take ownership of year-end accounts processes for statutory financial statements.
  • Manage year-end audit process, coordinating with external auditors and finance team.
  • Maintain financial policies, contribute to policy development, and ensure system accuracy through continuous improvement initiatives and cross-team collaboration.

The candidate:

  • Proven experience in a similar financial role, with CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, adept at prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on involvement in team activities.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, capable of delivering content to diverse audiences, including board members and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in finance systems, coupled with leadership capabilities to effectively engage with stakeholders and drive results collaboratively.
